Meet Julia Chiang of Little World of Whimsy
This was an exciting weekend for patterns at STASH! Two of our first yarn support recipients released their patterns. First up, is Julia Chiang of Little World of Whimsy with their pattern Grace the Bunny Girl!
You can get a copy of this adorable amigurumi pattern on the Little World of Whimsy Blog, or on Etsy. Julia used Scheepjes Catona and a 2.5mm crochet hook for this project. Now, let's get to know Julia!
Q: Tell us about yourself!
A: Hi there, I’m Julia!
I first discovered crochet and amigurumi (the Japanese art of crochet toys) during college when I came across the most adorable stuffed bears online one day. At first I was convinced that I could never learn how to make anything as intricate-looking and complicated as amigurumi, but the next day I went to Michael’s and picked out my first crochet hook and ball of yarn. After a few days of failure and restarts, I finished my first amigurumi— a little blue whale! Even though it was far from pretty, it was enough to make me fall in love with the craft.
Since then I have begun creating my own designs to bring more of my ideas into reality. I absolutely adore all things cute and miniature, so bringing little characters to life gives me so much joy. Further, it makes me so excited to be able to spread that happiness and whimsy with others and increase the amount of cuteness in the world!
Q: Where are you based out of?
A: I'm an amigurumi and crochet designed based in the greater Boston area, United States!
Q: Tell us about your design!
A: I absolutely adore making dolls and animals, and I wanted to combine the two ideas. Grace the Bunny Girl is the result of my wish to combine a bunny and a girl doll, and I love how she turned out! Her design features realistic hair and a scalloped dress, with a removable bunny hat on top. You can customize her dress and hair to any colors you want — the only limit is your imagination!
Q: Where can peeps follow you on social media? (IG, Facebook, Ravelry, etc)
A: Blog: littleworldofwhimsy.com
Etsy: etsy.com/shop/littleworldofwhimsy
Q: Anything else you want to share with the world? :)
A: Thank you so much for this opportunity! I'm so honored to be able to work with the team at STASH :) (Julia, the honour was ours!)
